In relation to the 2009 European Parliament Elections we participated in a 27 country content analysis of the news media coverage of the elections (www.piredeu.eu) and we conducted more than 50,000 interviews with citizens across Europe to tap the dynamics of the campaign. At the Eurobarometer conference in Gothenburg, Claes de Vreese talked about citizen participation in the European elections. The conference was organized by the Eurobarometer, the University of Gothenburg, and the Swedish Presidency of the EU. The speakers included Commission Vice President Margot Wallström.
